Ceiling Fan Installation Cairns

In a Cairns summer, a good ceiling fan does more than stir the air around. It cuts down what you spend running the aircon, drops the felt temperature in a room by a few degrees, and runs for cents an hour instead of dollars. The crew at Easy Cool Air & Electrical installs, replaces and repairs ceiling fans right across Far North Queensland, from beachside Queenslanders to brand new builds and full commercial fitouts.

A ceiling fan looks like a simple weekend job, but the install is electrical work, which means it needs a licensed sparky. We handle the lot: checking the mount takes the load, running power if nothing’s there yet, wiring in the switching or remote, and balancing the blades so the fan runs quiet and steady from the moment we leave.

Our Services

#1 Rated Ceiling Fan Installer

Most sparkies treat ceiling fans as a quick add-on between bigger jobs. We don’t. Easy Cool Electrical handles every part of ceiling fan work properly, whether it’s one fan going into a single room or a full multi-fan job across a commercial site:

Replacements

Old fan getting noisy, wobbly or just looking tired? We'll take down the existing unit, reuse the wiring and mounting where it's compatible, and have a fresh fan running in under an hour for most jobs.

Repairs

Fan stopped working, humming, running slow or skipping speeds? Most issues come down to a dead capacitor, worn bearings, a faulty switch or wiring fault. All of which we can diagnose and sort on site, on the same visit.

Outdoor & Patio Fans

Alfresco areas, decks, pergolas and verandahs need fans rated for outdoor or coastal conditions, especially this close to the coast. We supply and install proper IP-rated units that hold up to humidity, salt air and the Cairns wet season.

Why Easy Cool Electrical

Ceiling fans in Cairns work harder than they do almost anywhere else in the country. They run year-round, cop salt air on the coast, deal with dust through the dry, and battle humidity through the wet. The fans we recommend are picked specifically for those conditions. We install them properly so they don’t wobble or rattle loose over time, and we use the right drop rods, brackets and outdoor ratings depending on where they’re going. That cheap unit grabbed off a hardware store shelf might look fine on day one, but it rarely makes it through five summers up here.

Beyond knowing the gear, we cover the basics properly: licensed electricians on every job, transparent quoting upfront, a tidy install with no marks left on the ceiling, and a fan that runs balanced and quiet from the first time you flick the switch.

Brands We've Worked With

Australia has a strong ceiling fan market and we work with the brands that consistently hold up in Far North Queensland. Hunter Pacific, Lucci Air, Mercator, Martec, Eglo and Beacon Lighting all make solid options across the price range, with proper warranties and Australian parts backup. For commercial and industrial spaces, we lean toward HVLS specialists like Big Ass Fans. Whichever brand you’re considering, we’ll give you a straight answer on whether it’s the right fit for the room and the conditions, or whether something else would last longer.

Ceiling Fans for Cairns Homes & Businesses

The team at Easy Cool Electrical has been installing ceiling fans across Cairns properties since the business set up locally in 2016. Whether it’s a single new fan in a bedroom that’s never had one, a full multi-room upgrade across an older home, or commercial work covering a warehouse or restaurant, the approach is the same:
If something does play up later, we’ve got the repair side covered too: motor replacements, capacitor swaps, balancing, remote pairing, the lot. A decent ceiling fan should outlast at least one repair before it ever gets thrown in the bin.

What Size Ceiling Fan Do You Actually Need?

Picking the right size fan is more important than people realise. Get it wrong and the room won’t ever quite feel right, even with the fan flat out on the top speed.

A fan that’s too small for the room won’t move enough air to make a real difference, no matter how fast it spins. A fan that’s too big in a small space looks oversized and tends to feel oppressive overhead. Blade span needs to match the floor area, the ceiling height dictates whether you need a drop rod or flush mount, and the motor needs to be rated for the kind of continuous running most Cairns fans get put through.

As a rough guide: rooms under 12 sqm suit blade spans of 1100mm to 1200mm; medium rooms between 12 and 25 sqm work best with 1300mm to 1400mm; rooms above 25 sqm need at least 1500mm. Outdoor entertainment areas often go bigger again to move enough air across the space. The team at Easy Cool Air & Electrical will walk you through the right pick for each room when you book in a quote.

Local Cairns Businesses We Work With

A solid chunk of our work comes from looking after commercial sites around Cairns: cafes, retail spaces, body corporates, fit-outs and ongoing service contracts. The logos below are a few of the local outfits that trust Easy Cool Air & Electrical with the air conditioning side of their business.

Ceiling Fan FAQs

Do I need an electrician to install a ceiling fan?

Yes. Ceiling fan installation is electrical work, and Queensland regulations require it to be done by a licensed electrician. Even where there’s an existing light fitting in place, the wiring still needs to be checked, the connection needs to be made correctly, and the mount needs to take the weight and movement of the motor properly. Doing it without a sparky risks voiding insurance, voiding the fan’s warranty, and creating a genuine fire or shock hazard down the track.
In most cases, yes. The existing wiring usually has enough capacity to handle a fan, though sometimes we’ll need to add a separate switch or remote setup so the fan and light can be controlled independently. We’ll check the wiring during the quote and walk you through what’s involved before the job goes ahead.
A wobble usually comes down to one of three things: the blades have gone out of balance, the mounting bracket has loosened over time, or the fan was never installed dead-level in the first place. Humidity can also warp older blades slightly. Most wobbles can be diagnosed and sorted on the spot with a balancing kit, a re-tighten, or a quick re-level.
DC motors are quieter, more energy efficient, and usually ship with more speed settings and remote control as standard. They cost a bit more upfront but use significantly less power, which adds up if the fan runs for long stretches each day (which most do in Cairns). AC motors are still solid, more affordable, and perfectly fine for spaces where the fan runs intermittently.
For a standard install with existing wiring in place, allow about an hour per fan. Adding new wiring, installing into a high or raked ceiling, or running a separate switch line pushes that out. We’ll give you a clear time estimate at the quote stage so there are no surprises on the day.

Strongly not recommended. Outdoor fans need to be IP-rated to handle moisture, dust and salt air, and in Cairns the salt and humidity get into pretty much anything within a few kilometres of the coast. Installing an indoor fan outside almost always voids the warranty and shortens the lifespan dramatically. We supply and install proper outdoor, coastal and patio-rated fans for alfresco areas.
